2:04 I watched the Legion series, 9.5/10 series btw, highly recommend. The difference it made using AirPods can’t be overstated. The surround sound shifting from ear to ear is incredible, tiny sounds way in the back of the mix you normally miss, the experience is on a whole new level. Has me wanting to setup a multiple device transmitter, so even with a group, everyone can connect their own pair…TV’s should offer the built in ability to connect at least 10, for when you need it, 2 is not enough. At least 6 ya know. Looking in to what would offer best sound quality…there is a brand “Avantree” idk if they are good or not but they offer a transmitter that allows 100 devices, without lag, claims on a 2.4 with 7ms lag.

Steelbook, looks nice Atmos sound very immersive. Gotta say 1st disk was kinda boring, though really kicks in 2nd episode on 2 disk..... However there some quality control issue with the transfer. I notice on a couple occasions flickering on bottom and top black bar of screen, some white flickering. Every 2nd episode for only for few seconds then goes away. Not too much distraction however annoying from a quality precpetive and people forking out $$$

so no one else is dying to know who played that trumpet???

Hi, is there any way at all to connect active speakers to a receiver without the pre outs? The active speakers is a sound bar.

We Reach For Sound Quality esp the Original Sound Dynamics of a particular "Recording' whether Dolby, DTX etc. QUALITY OF BROADCAST/STREAMED SOUND 'ALMOST ALWAYS' SUCKS .... (Usually Compressed at some level) I FOUND THAT ONLY "ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK" ON DVD, TAPE, RECORD etc . will justify the thousands you spent on your 7,9,11 Channel Home Theater System.

Interesting that you say about M.Mann being a stickler for sound. When I watched Ferrari I actually stopped a scene and switched from the Atmos track to the DTS-HD track to see if there was an error in that track but it was there in both. It was like there was normalisation on the dialogue in a couple of points when they were arguing and it cut the audio level right down (I have everything like this disabled on my kit of course). The track overall wasn’t as good as I was hoping (I was expecting Ford v Ferrari style big car sounds).

I had a JBL sound bar with sub for the last 10 years that I loved. Finally died today. I’d like something simple, easily installed, and no visible wires. I’m struggling to find a sound bar I think I’ll be happy with. If I want to run something like a klipsch R34C, what do I need for a receiver/amp? Preferably something I can hid behind my wall mounted TV

I feel like any .2 array is a budgetary compromise. .4 is really the move.

I got the Marantz SR8015 below 2k new and the Denon AVR-X6700H from Best Buy for $1,500 on a limited sale during X-Mas, I was very lucky since that lasted for 1 week until they ran out. Both have the same specs and power. The Denon is a little bit slender than the SR8015. There isn't that much difference other than the on screen blue and orange color on the GUI.

Hello my friend we had this conversation about 3yrs ago and I went the route of the AVR and glad I went this way. 3 yrs later and I’m running a 9.2.4 and still get amazed on the sound. Just upgraded to a Denon 6700 and as you mentioned it’s the flexibility that appeals to me and even if I’m not swapping out speakers or amps every couple of years it’s good knowing that when I do I will be able to. As always thanks for the great videos and your personal takes.

Horrible sound quality and very difficult to manage speakers unless you wall mount or use floor stand. The 360 sound envelope feels artificial and incapable. I still feel my Bose lifestyle 650 is the best speaker to date. I am stuck with this sony quad system feels like I wasted my money.

you never say it has same output for both on external DAC user...

I was wondering what SPDIF was on the back of my PC motherboard, since the same "port" on my tv is called "Digital Audio (Optical), very useful vid and answered all my questions. I never really thought about using anything other than the 3.5mm jack, but I am looking at upgrading my speakers and when I saw the speakers had a optical connection I figured I'd check both my PC and TV, both have such a connection but as they were named differently I was confused.

For somebody who finds this video: I used pretty much the same material as Ealan did but made my life much easier. In Germany you can get the store staff of where you buy the MDF from to cut everything to size. In my case it didn't even cost extra that way plus I didn't have to cut anything. I'm sure there are stores in the US that offer this service as well. For a secure fit i measured every needed hole, marked the spot and drilled a pilot hole for each screw. The result is very clean and very sturdy. Structurewise I did it the same way as Ealan with one support-beam in the middle, but I hung mine up the Wall with steel nails (two per panel in a stone wall). After that I covered the front and the back with very light weed matt for the filling to stay out of the air I want to breathe and to ease out contrast between the materials that would have been easy to spot with the property of Linen (which I used as a top fabric) being very see-through. Had to move to a smaller place and once I heard the sound bar of my choosing, I didn't care if my reveiver and speakers had higher quality. Instead I focused on my sound bar's quality which I approved. Get one with surround speakers. I'm so over the wires and having to check those wires and placing bulky speakers strategically, especially the tower speaker. Life is too short and too busy to not get myself a sleek looking sound bar to the point that I've accepted that I might just be giving my speakers and receiver away instead of the hassle of trying to sell such stuff today. I'm good on these wires coming loose and being visible too. It would be one thing if you listened to tons of music at home and wanted the best of the best sound, but even then, you have to place everything in just the right spot which may not even look good if you're lucky enough to have the speakers in the best spot to begin with. I'm relieved to be done with it. I thought it looked cool, but now I enioy not seeing it. Plus yea, who with kids would want that stuff around anyway. It's more important that your computer tower can connect to your TV than a receiver. Personally, I'm a wireless keyboard and mouse from a coffee table in front of couch/computer tower HDMI to TV guy vs. the rest of what ppl do, but the sound bar was a great addition to my preferences. I only use the internet to watch TV so don't need a remote for more than powering on the TV and adjusting the volume. My flat screet is equally the computer moniter, as it is the TV, so It only makes sense. Still prefer a TV on a piece of furniture eye level from the couch here the sound bar does not block the bottom of the TV when placed below it on a peice of furniture, in case you wondered, with so many ppl wall mounting their tv amd sound bar today. Not sure if all sounds bars are the same height, but I'm sure that most are.

Considering the price, these are incomparable systems. If it be possible that regular Sounbar is better, then something would be very wrong indeed. AVR system must be much much better! Is it?

Also very crucial: 1. how SMALL or BIG is your budget? Soundbar Samsung Q990C i get for 900$. If i go with all system, only AVR cost so much. All together you are quick over 5000$, especially if you want adding some external amps also. And, if you want pro speakers, 5000$, is a drop in the see. And OLED or a great Projector etc. 2. You need a dedicated room. If you have all that power of AVR, this is only logical move. And sound room treatmen also, and that means again even more cost and work. And cable installation ... Also the design of a room. Living room on 5.2.4 sistem will be crouded with speakers. If you are married, you have very high chance for no go :) 3. Wife, kids, ... ussualy they dont need so much power of the sound. For them is even soundbar to much. For my family is even TV sound to much :( 4. I'm not so sure about the guaranteed upgrade option either. I have a 10 year old AVR Pioneer 5.1. But today it's outdated, it doesn't have Dolby Atmos and it's only 5.1. The front speakers also need repairs (cons on the base). So upgrade for me is no upgrade, i need all new. I moved, so installation also. So I'm back at the beginning. 5. Be aware of Power consumption. I think the AVR system is really only for those big enthusiasts and will probably always remain that way. I'm a bit like that myself, but I have very limited resources, time and space. In my living room I have all the routes ready in the wall for the cables, but I gave up on the idea of ​​a new AVR system. Maybe one other room in the basement someday?
